Jonathan and Wike failed to attend their party rally in his State- Bayelsa
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) organized their final rally at Yenegoa yesterday. According to our findings, the party tagged it the Mother of Rallies. Well, reports reaching us indicate that both Ebele Goodluck Jonathan and River state Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike failed to appear at the rally. To say that the incident was very shocking and disappointing to the organizers is an understatement.
Let’s recall that the former president had always attended such rallies even when he was still occupying the highest seat of power. In 2012 and 2015, while as a sitting president and former president, Goodluck attended these rallies. So, what caused this absence even when the rally was happening in his State?
According to our findings, the former president was supposed to deliver an important speech, as indicated in the rally program. Unfortunately, he failed to appear to the disappointment of the organizers who were expecting him.
Party Challenges Played a Hand in Jonathan Decision
Nobody gave any reasons yet as to why the former president shunned the PDP rally in Bayelsa state. However, we gathered that the house hasn’t been happy about the primaries election for the governor seat.
Right now, the outcome of the party’s primary election is still under deliberation in the court. One of the aspirants, Chief Ndutimi Alaibe, refuses to accept the result of their primary election. His persistence and the plea that came from Ogbia monarchs kept Goodluck away from the rally. The monarchs pleaded that he shouldn’t attend the rally, and he didn’t.
We also gathered that Jonathan promised some State governors that he would attend the rally. The governors met him for a plea to support Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and Senator Douye Diri. From all indications, the former president should have been there. However, some other groups had a more powerful influence on him.
