Bayern Munich is on the hunt of a new head coach after sacking Niko Kovac yesterday. Bayern sacked the Coach after the club lost 5 – 1 at Eintracht Frankfurt. It was the clubs worst Bundesliga defeat in 10 years.
The club said in a statement published on their website “ The decision to sack Niko Kovac was mutual, It was concluded after holding discussion with club president Uli Hoeness, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and the Coach Kovac himself. The cub chairman Rummenigge said, The clubs performance have been poor in recent weeks, and the 5 – 1 defeat has shown us that there is an urgent need for action”. “I would like to applaud Kovac on behalf of the club, and we all regret this development”. He continued “his
work has been outstanding, especially for last season’s double win.”
For now, assistant coach Hansi Flick would take over during the club search for a suitable replacement. The club won the Bundesliga double last season, and Bayern also defeated Tottenham 7 – 2 in the champion s league just a few weeks ago. However, the team has been on a terrible run of only 3 victories in the last 6 games.
