Five people, including family members and minors, have been arrested for the gangrape and murder of a 9-year-old child in Jammu and Kashmir.
Thr girl had been missing since August 23, for which her father, a resident of Uri, filed a complaint with the police.
This Sunday (September 2), the girl’s decomposed body was found in a forest area near the Baramulla district.
A special investigation team (SIT) headed by the SDPO of Uri has been constituted to investigate the case.
So far, five people, including the child’s stepmother and step-brother, have been arrested.
“The SIT interrogated the suspects and during sustained questioning of the stepmother of the deceased, a bone chilling and horrible account of murder and rape of the nine-year-old child came to light,” said Baramulla Superintendent of Police Imtiaz Hussain Mir.
DISTURBING DETAILS OF THE MURDER SURFACE
Investigation has revealed that the stepmother had a long-standing grudge against her husband’s second wife and her children.
“During questioning, she revealed that her husband would mostly spend time with his second wife and the girl was dearest to him,” said Officer Mir.
In hatred, she came up with the plan to get rid of the girl, as per which she took her to the forest area on the fateful day.
Here, the police said, the little girl was gangraped by her 14-year-old stepbrother and his friends in the presence of her stepmother.
After they all took turns to rape her, the stepmother strangulated her.
“While the stepmother strangulated her, the stepbrother hit her head with an axe. Another accused gouged out her eyes with a sharp knife, and then sprinkled acid on her body parts,” the SSP said. “Physical condition and preliminary forensic analysis of the body substantiated all these facts.”
The girl’s body was then dumped in the bushes, covered with twigs and branches of pine trees.
Police found all the material and weapons used to killed the girl in the area.
